Bechtel Jacobs Company, LLC, (BJC)
under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is the prime
contractor for the demolition of the K-25 and K-27 uranium
enrichment facilities in Oak Ridge, TN. WESKEM is subcontracted to
BJC to provide all waste management operations under the BJC closure
contract. On occasion, WESKEM also provides other services to BJC
based on excellent performance on the base contract. BJC awarded
WESKEM a $4.5 million contract to install a new electrical
distribution system in the K-25 and K-27 buildings. This new
electrical distribution system was needed to support the demolition
activities in the facilities because the installed system was old
and not safe to operate. WESKEM and its subcontractors provided all
labor, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to install the
electrical power distribution system including two lighting systems
in the two buildings within a very short timeframe (several months)
to support the BJC project schedule. WESKEM completed the utility
services project on time and within the project budget with no
accidents or injuries. |
