WESKEM has safely shipped over 30 million kilograms of radioactive,
hazardous and mixed waste to five approved TSDFs for treatment
and/or disposal over the past three years. These wastes have
included low-level radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuel, special
nuclear material, RCRA hazardous waste, Toxic Substance Control
Act waste, mixed waste, and shock sensitive wastes.
WESKEM has developed and received approval for over 50 waste
profiles in accordance with TSDF Waste Acceptance Criteria. All
WESKEM waste transportation documents and shipping activities
receive detailed peer review to ensure compliance with regulatory
and TSDF requirements. Prior to waste transportation, the receiving
TSDF is notified and provides shipping authorization.
WESKEM ensures that all Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability
requirements are fully addressed for nuclear waste disposition.
WESKEM routinely prepares all necessary documentation to facilitate
transfer of responsibility for nuclear materials between the
originating site and the receiving facility.
Waste shipped to a TSDF for treatment and/or disposal is tracked
and monitored to ensure safe arrival. The WESKEM waste disposition
team provides confirmation to our clients that waste shipments
are received by the TSDF and that the waste was properly treated
and/or disposed. These confirmation documents are also quality
records and are maintained with the waste records. The final
records of disposition are thoroughly reviewed to ensure accuracy
and completeness. Any discrepancies between the records and TSDF
activities are immediately reported to the customer, TSDF and
regulatory authorities as appropriate. |
